A nurse has shared the weight loss journey after losing 104lbs.

Samantha Abreu shared how making a few simple changes in her life has helped her to lose more than 100lbs.

The 25-year-old nurse from Melbourne said that she had previously struggled to get through her 10-hour-long shifts as a nurse due to feeling exhausted.

She shared how just a few changes helped her to drop 7st 6lbs in a year.

This wasn’t down to any fad diet or anything like that either, Samantha made some simple changes which have had a big impact.

It all got started off when Covid-19 hit, forcing everyone inside.

For Samantha, it was going out for a walk every day to help with her mental health which got her started.

So what exactly were these changes that she made?

Well, nowadays Samantha walks 10,000 steps a day, goes to the gym four times a week, and has made changes to her diet.

Samantha said: “Growing up I always felt insecure. I couldn’t envision a future for myself.

“I’d have urges to eat so much to the point of being uncomfortable.

“After a family dinner I’d have a huge bowl of cereal and slices of toast.”

Gradually Samantha began to alter her eating habits, instead eating intuitively, avoiding binge-eating, and decreasing her portion sizes.

“As I lost weight I still found myself reaching for XL scrubs but they started to feel too baggy and would get in the way,” she said.

“Now I feel comfortable and safe in my body.”

Samantha described how she had often found the physical demands of her job exhausting.

She said: “Before being a nurse I was an assistant so it’s very physically demanding. It was very exhausting.

“It’s crazy half of these things don’t tire me like they used to.”

Now that she is exercising more often, Samantha says that her outlook on exercise has also changed.

She said: “As a child I did not like movement. I’d cry if we went on a walk.

“Now movement makes me feel at peace. I kept implementing healthy habits every day.”

She added: “I move intuitively and it’s what works for me.

“It’s completely changed my life. It’s lovely looking stronger. It makes me feel safe in my body.”

Samantha also said she hopes she can inspire others who are struggling like she was.

She said: “I hope other people can see themselves in me.

“If I can help person and realise they can slowly start implementing change that’s all I want.”
