The cops want a man in Texas as he allegedly filed for divorce after forging his wife’s signature on the documents. He somehow managed to get through the legal process and eventually got a divorce from the court.

Paul Nixon is a 51-year-old man from Houston, Texas. He wanted to get rid of his wife, and to do so – he came up with a strange idea. He went to the court with proper documentation that fulfilled all the legal requirements; the man didn’t only forge his wife’s signatures on the papers but also faked a notary’s approval and got the final divorce decree.

He filed the paperwork on February 15, just a day after Valentine’s Day, and received the final decree in April. Meanwhile, Mrs. Nixon remained unaware of the entire happening throughout this period.

A police officer involved in the investigation process told The New York Post.

“We rarely see something like this.”

“Paul Nixon has been charged with aggravated perjury for reportedly lying to the courts about the validity of the forms and information.”

According to Harris County Constable Mark Herman,

“In this particular case, the gentleman decided to go through a divorce, but the only problem is that he left his wife out of the process. And that’s a violation of the law here in Texas.”

The police constable also stated that the woman didn’t know that she had been divorced for at least three months. “The poor woman thought she was still married to this idiot.”

“She was very surprised when she finally got to know about the whole thing. She started finding things showing that he was spending money on jewelry, so she confronted him, and he told her that they were actually divorced.” He said.

According to the Police officials, the woman contacted them when Nixon told her that she was no longer his wife and that he had secretly divorced her.

So, she went to the police and found that her husband went through a three-month-long court procedure to dissolve their marriage. She said she didn’t even have the slightest clue on what he was up to. She also told the officials that they had only been married for just a couple of years.

The police told the news outlet that as per the law, the couple is still NOT divorced. Mrs. Nixon didn’t give her consent, and he used fake signatures in court.

“They are still legally married; the fraudulent divorce papers have been retracted.”

The police also said they could not find Nixon, and he was on the run. But they are looking for him and hopefully find him soon.

“We’ve got teams of officers out looking for him right now, but we have an idea where he’s at. So hopefully, he’ll turn himself in. If not, we’ll catch him. Just a matter of time.”

“He will face up to ten years in prison if convicted.”  Said Herman.
