Jamie Lee Curtis, the legendary actress, grew up in a showbiz family. With renowned parents like hers, it’s no wonder that the “Perfect” actress just received an Oscar nod for her outstanding performance as a sluggish IRS employee in the 2022 film “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.”

Jamie’s parents laid the groundwork for her successful career before she emerged as one of the most famous faces in Hollywood. Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, both Oscar nominees and Golden Globe winners, gave birth to the actress.

Tony, Jamie’s dad, had his breakthrough with the film “Sweet Smell of Success.” He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in “The Defiant Ones.” However, Janet was found by another actress and nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho.”

Jamie, like her renowned parents, was nominated for the 95th Academy Awards alongside her co-star, Stephanie Hsu. On January 24, 2023, the Academy released the top selections for the actress in a supporting role category through their Twitter account.

Jamie was taken aback by the news of her nomination. Jamie responded to the pleasant announcement by posting on social media about how much the nomination means to her. She accompanied the touching message with a photo of her mom and dad smiling side by side.

Jamie commented on her reaction, stating a friend had come over to see the reveal. Jamie sat in her pyjamas in front of the TV, eagerly awaiting the results. She was so engrossed that she didn’t notice her guest was photographing the entire thing.

The actress said that she never imagined herself receiving an Oscar nomination. She emphasised her delight in her article, stating, it was never even in her wildest dream box. Jamie also complimented the film’s actors and crew for their efforts and perseverance in the caption.

Jamie has had the love and encouragement of her husband, Christopher Guest, for the past 38 years. After Jamie spotted Christopher in a magazine, she met her actor and director husband. She joked with a pal at the time that they might marry one day. Jamie’s joke turned out to be quite prescient, much to her astonishment.

Four months after Jamie first saw Christopher, the two exchanged vows and made it official in 1984. After they married, they adopted their oldest child, Annie Guest. They also adopted a son, Thomas Guest, who eventually came out as trans and is now called Ruby, a few years later. Jamie had this to say about Ruby’s support: “I’m a grateful student. I’m learning so much from Ruby. The conversation is ongoing. But I want to know: How can I do this better?”

Jamie and Christopher are still as in love with each other as they were when they first met. The actress said that she considers herself to be a romantic and compassionate individual. She refers to Christopher as her “one and only,” and she values having a companion at her side.

Jamie spoke about her family background after being nominated for an Academy Award. Her grandparents and grandfather were immigrants, she said. Her parents were reared in America by immigrants who had left their homes to provide their kids a brighter future. As this is a film about an immigrant family and their challenges in life, she commented, she instantly thought of her parents, children of immigrants from Hungary and Denmark, whose families came here and struggled for their children to realise their ambitions.

Jamie went on to remark that her parents and grandparents, like Tony and Janet before her, would have been overjoyed to see her nominated for an Oscar. She also expressed her surprise that the film did so well and reached so many individuals.

Jamie comes from a family of immigrants, as she noted on Instagram. On her dad’s side, her grandparents moved to America from Mateszalka. Helen and Emanuel Schwartz immigrated to the nation before the birth of their son, wanting to provide a solid and safe future for their kid.

They ultimately had a son, Bernard Schwartz, who subsequently changed his name to Tony Curtis and followed an acting career. Tony married Jamie’s mom, Janet, and they had a child together. Jamie is researching her ancestors 65 years after the birth of Tony and Janet’s daughter.

The actress recently returned to Mateszalka, Hungary, to learn more about her family’s origins. Jamie spoke with the mayor of Mateszalka and agreed to rebuild the local synagogue, which had been in disrepair for several years. In the meantime, she created a museum in her dad’s honour to honour his heritage and origins.
