Emmy Awards started in the year 1949. It honored the most talented actors in Los Angeles television. The Emmy Awards later expanded and started involving national, daytime, & primetime programming.

The 30th Primetime Emmy Awards, in 1978, was held at Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Pasadena, California. Regarding comedy duos, Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were the best comedians of the era.

Their collaboration on “The Carol Burnett Show” for 11 seasons on CBS earned them the Emmy award in 1978, in the category of Outstanding Comedy-Variety or Music Series. The actors showcased their comic genius even during their award speeches.

Tim Conway’s important “Telegram Speech” garnered much attention and is still considered one of the best award acceptance speeches by any actor. Conway started his speech on a somber note. He told everyone that he had received a telegram that morning, “Tim, we know this is your day, but we hope you’ll take a few moments to think of us. Our thoughts are with you always. Love, the gang at the Tarzana Pitch-n-Putt.”

Conway was a genius whose humor was not just stuck to his script. It was beyond anyone’s imagination. He would do impromptu acts, which were hilarious, and would make his audience laugh out, rolling on the ground.

During one of the conversations, Conway’s daughter, Kelly, spoke about what she thought about her dad’s acting passion. She stated that Conway wanted to work on scripts that viewers of all ages could enjoy together without embarrassment.
