Every shelter animal has the same dream: to find a human who will take them in and give them a loving forever home. But sadly, it takes some pets longer than others to get adopted.
Many cats and dogs spend months or even years watching people pass them by, no matter how much they yearn for their attention.
But one shelter cat, who would often tap on the glass of her kennel longing to be noticed, has finally found a home after months of waiting.
Vali, a 10-year-old black-and-white cat, arrived at Community Cat Club in New Jersey earlier this year. “She was surrendered when her elderly owner could no longer care for her,” founder Sara Sharp told Love Meow.
It’s always hard when a senior cat ends up in a shelter, but the rescue staff were determined to give this cat a second chance. She spent time in a foster home, and Community Cat Club hoped to quickly find a permanent solution.
“We were hoping we could find her a new home as soon as possible, so she could go right from her current home to her new home,” Sara said.
However, it proved difficult to find the right home for Vali. Months went by, and no one had any interest in the sweet senior cat. The shelter said that it was “kitten season,” and many of their older cats were getting passed by.
Vali had a lot of love to give, they just needed someone to notice. The rescue wrote that Vali’s “personality has really blossomed.”
“She loves to cuddle with her humans and even gets along well with other cats and dogs if the respect her space,” they wrote.
“She loves all humans, regardless of age!” another post reads. “She deserves the world, as she has quickly become a loving addition in her foster family and will make someone so happy!”
Vali, too, was eager to find a new home — and did something to make sure the world noticed.
The rescue placed Vali in their Petco adoption center, hoping for more exposure, and the senior cat made it clear she was “ready for brighter and bigger things.”
A video shows Vali in her kennel, constantly pawing at the glass at the people walking by. After months of being ignored by potential adopters, she was trying hard to be seen:
It’s heartbreaking to watch a lonely shelter cat longing for love and attention like that — but thankfully, the video went viral and helped introduce Vali to the world. After half a year of being ignored, Vali was now the shelter’s most famous cat.
“This girl waved hello to so many people across the county and even the globe,” Community Cat Club wrote. “Her little video reached so many people.”
And thankfully, the video reached just the right person. On June 22, the shelter announced that Vali had finally been adopted!
A woman reportedly saw the video, showed up to meet Vali in person, and “knew it was meant to be.”
“Way to go girl,” the rescue wrote. sharing photos of Vali with her new mom.
We’re so glad this beautiful cat finally got noticed! Congrats to Vali on finding her great new home!
