Adarsh Shrivastava was traveling on a train through Uttar Pradesh when he noticed that the other passengers all seemed to have something in common. The train cabin was filled with young girls between the ages of 10 and 14.

Shrivastava says that most of the girls were visibly distressed and some of them were even crying. He immediately suspected that something wasn’t right and was determined to help them. It was his quick thinking that saved 26 Indian girls from human traffickers.

He pulled out his phone and sent several Twitter messages detailing what he was experiencing to the railway and law enforcement authorities. He told them he suspected that the girls were the victims of human trafficking.

The good samaritan sent his train number and cabin to the authorities, and within 30 minutes the Ministry of Railways Twitter account responded to his message. A few stops later, several police officers boarded the train and arrested two men who had been transporting the young girls for human trafficking.

The Railway Protection Force released a statement saying that the girls’ parents had been informed and the men were taken into custody. Shrivastava’s heroic actions have gone viral and social media users are hailing him as a hero.

Several social media users are asking the Prime Minister of India to honor him for his quick thinking, but Shrivastava has responded saying, “Thanks, but as a citizen of India, it is our responsibility to help people.”

What an amazing, heroic story. Do you think Shrivastava deserves to be recognized for his good deed? Be sure to share this with your family and friends to see what they think.
