Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, welcomed their son, Barron, in 2006. It should go without saying that the fifth child of the former President had a very luxurious childhood, and that hardly changed for the worse when he moved into the White House.

Since then, Barron Trump hasn’t been seen too much in the spotlight. His mother, Melania, did her best to shield him from media attention during her husband’s presidency. Recently, though, he appeared several times in public, and everyone is saying the same thing.

Barron was born in New York and spent his early days in a Manhattan penthouse. Yet just 20 minutes after he was welcomed into this world, Donald Trump is said to have done something that we guess no father has done before him.

Barron Trump was born in New York City on March 20, 2006. Much of his childhood was spent growing up in Trump Tower in Manhattan, where he was said to have had an entire floor to himself.

It will come as no surprise that Donald Trump’s net worth is truly staggering, and as a result, Barron grew up in a world of luxury.

In an interview shortly after he was born, Melania revealed that Barron’s floor in Trump Tower was fully equipped with a kitchen, a living room, and even housing for the maids.

Moreover, it turns out that she gave him a nickname at a very young age, calling him “Little Donald,” based on his personality.

“He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants. Sometimes I call him ‘Little Donald.’”

Speaking with Parenting, mom Melania revealed that Barron loved planes and helicopters as a young child.

She always made sure to cook his breakfast and prepare his lunch. So even though they had a very luxurious lifestyle, they didn’t have a traditional nanny.

“Barron is 9 years old. He needs somebody as a parent there, so I am with him all the time,” Melania said in a 2015 People interview. “As you know my husband is traveling all the time.”

“We keep it down to a minimum,” Trump added. “If you have too much help, you don’t get to know your children.”

Melania and Donald Trump let him paint on the walls
Melania revealed that Barron was very much into creating things as a young boy, and his mother supported that. Barron was said to even draw on the walls.

“In his space, the décor style of the rest of our home is mixed with what he is into: planes and helicopters,” Melania told Parenting, as quoted by Metro.

“We let him be creative; let his imagination fly and do whatever he wants. Whatever he wants to do with his own room later on, he can do it. Whatever he wants to do with his own room, he can do it. He draws on the walls, we can paint it over.”

“When he was smaller, he started drawing on the walls,” she added. “His imagination is growing and important. He draws on the walls in his playroom, we can paint it over. One day he was playing bakery and he wrote ‘Barron’s Bakery’ on the wall with crayons. He is very creative, if you say to a child ‘no, no, no,’ where does the creativity go?”

Growing up, Melania was closest to Barron. Donald naturally worked a lot, and he explained to Larry King in 2005 that he was a reasonably hands-off parent.

“I’m not going to be doing the diapers,” Trump said. “I’m not going to be making the food, I may never even see the kids.”

All the same, Barron loves spending time with his dad. When Barron was growing up, Melania ensured that he had quality time with his father – the two frequently went out for dinner together.

Then, as he grew older, Barron joined his father on the golf course.

“It’s very important to know the person you’re with. And we know our roles,” Melania explained.

Ever since he was a young kid, Barron’s mother took the time to help him with his homework. He loved science and math, and Melania took him to different after-school activities, encouraging him to reach for the stars.

“He wants to be a golfer, a businessman, a pilot. It’s that age when you introduce him to stuff,” she says.

Melania Trump is of Slovenian descent. Because of that, she raised Barron to be bilingual, and when he calls his grandmother in Slovenia, he speaks Slovenian.

Both she and Donald agree that the more languages you speak, the better. His father told Larry King that he “loves” that Barron speaks with a Slovenian accent. One can assume these days that the accent is gone, since he’s gone to school in the US.

Like many other Trump family members, he headed to some of the more prestigious schools.
