Residents of the Kingston Residence, a senior living community in Sylvania, Ohio, include John and Phyllis Cook. They connected because their flats were on the same floor and were close by.
Truth be told, we fell in love with each other, as Phyllis, who will turn 103 this summer, said to WNWO. “I know you might think that’s a bit unrealistic for someone our age, but we fell in love with each other,” she said.
John, a 100-year-old WWII veteran, explained that they “were just compatible in a whole bunch of ways, finding ourselves enjoying one other’s company.” They had each been married twice before, making them both widows.
However, they spend more time together than just playing bingo. John’s response to the question of what their favorite pastime was to do together was, “Well, I probably shouldn’t talk about it.”
But Phyllis was more direct:
“Neither he nor I have totally died sexually,” Phyllis spoke with KHOU 11. I just don’t believe in hopping in bed as a Christian unless you’re married, she said, citing her principles.
As a result, John consented to turn her into an honorable woman, and the two of them left for the courthouse to obtain a marriage license.
John told WNWO, “It wasn’t the idea, but we arrived here and they said we could marry you here.
He was eager for the marriage to start: “I said, ‘Good, let’s get it over with.'”
The couple has many happy years ahead of them. Phyllis’ mother lived to be 106, so despite their advanced age, they might have some good genes on their side.
This tale demonstrates that you can start a new relationship and a new chapter at any age.
