His ex-girlfriend was left speechless after telling her that he had paid off her mortgage.
A happy Shaun Nyland surprised his ex-girlfriend Cat with the news, recording her reaction and posting it on TikTok. Cat, the mother of his child, received the good news on the occasion of her 31st birthday.
In the video, Shaun hands Cat a set of keys, which has received more than 5 million views on TikTok. Cat asks: “What are you giving me these for?”
Then he told her: “It’s your birthday today, and I wish you have the happiest birthday ever.”
“And look, I know we’re not together anymore, and I’ve been so proud of you; you’re the best mom ever, so I did something. I rang up the bank; I paid off the entire mortgage. This house now belongs to you.”
Cat remains calm after hearing the news and tells Shaun that she doesn’t believe him.
“I promise you, this house belongs to you. I rang the bank, paid it off; you own this house.”
She learns it’s not a joke when she checks her email. Once she does that, she realizes it’s not a joke and can’t believe it.
Shaun posted another video explaining why he paid off the mortgage not just for Cat but also for the couple’s son.
“At the end of the day, my ex-girlfriend gave me the best gift any man could ask for by bringing Leo into this world, and I know it was tough for Cat to try and live the same lifestyle we lived, but by herself,” he said.
“Honestly, guys, I’m still shaking right now. I’m just so grateful that I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to do this, not just for Cat but also for my baby, so that he’s got a roof over his head for the rest of his life guaranteed, and I think if you can do that then why wouldn’t you? It was a no-brainer for me.”
The couple, Shaun and Cat, split up earlier this year after being together for seven years.
