Joy Behar was cut off while talking politics during an episode of The View, and she confronted the producer on live TV. Meanwhile, fans are citing several remarks on the show they didn’t like hearing.
According to reports, Joy Behar didn’t return to The View refreshed after a week of vacation. She couldn’t seem to conceal her irritation during a live broadcast—or she simply didn’t bother to try when she snapped at producer Brian Teta for attempting to cut her off and send the ABC talk show to a commercial.

Things went wrong during a segment about the Pennsylvania Senate race between Dr. Mehmet Oz and John Fetterman when Behar said “the Democrats need to get behind John Fetterman because he’s qualified, and Mehmet Oz is a loser.” With the support of her audience, Behar added, “Let’s just talk —” before staring off at the spectators with a confused look on her face.

The former comedian called out her own producer. “Brian doesn’t like that I called [Dr. Oz] a loser,” Behar said referring to Brian Teta, the executive producer of The View. After being put on the spot in front of a live audience, Teta immediately commented from off-camera to say that he wasn’t trying to shut down what Behar was saying and that he just wanted to send the show to the scheduled commercial break.

“No, I don’t like that we’re out of time,” Teta replied. “We’ve gotta go to break … we can come back.” Behar, who was visibly annoyed, put down her notecards and unhappily conceded, telling Teta, “Alright.” Whoopi Goldberg attempted to fix the very obvious tension in the room, asking Behar, “Would you like to come back and say what you wanted to say?”

Behar replied, “Sure,” as Teta was shown nodding offstage in agreement. Goldberg, satisfied with the resolution but not quite ready to bring the show to a commercial break, turned to Teta and told him, “I mean, you should actually be sitting up here today!”

According to The Sun, The View’s ratings are plummeting as fans boycott the show over several different remarks from the last year. For example, when Whoopi Goldberg said, “Sometimes you have to be an a** to be a parent,” the comedian’s language didn’t go down so well with viewers at home. One such viewer wrote on Reddit: “Whoopi and Sunny’s [Hostin] foul language was a bit much today.”

The Reddit user also called out the hosts for cursing while talking about tighter gun control. “Between Whoopi using the word ‘b*hin’ and Sunny referring to Republicans ‘psing on her leg when it’s raining’ I had to turn off,” they wrote. “I know they’re passionate about gun issues but this is daytime TV, not the Howard Stern show. Some people have kids home for the summer.”

Another viewer posted on Twitter: “Does Whoopi really need to swear all the time?” Others rushed to Whoopi’s defense over her bold statement, however, with one fan tweeting: “Yep! Kids won’t like all of your decisions but you gotta do what you gotta do.” Another wrote: “LOVE Whoopi saying ‘sometimes you have to be an a** to be a parent.”

Of course, no one can forget when Whoopi Goldberg got into hot water with fans after she claimed the Holocaust was not “about race.” Even though she was briefly suspended from the talk show, viewers haven’t forgiven the actress for her remark which is another reason for the decline in ratings.

A petition circulated on Change.org, insisting that Whoopi be let go of her hosting duties for her “repulsive verbiage and actions.” Several concerned viewers, including the Democratic National Committee, started the petition, which states: “Whoopi has made numerous remarks about race that have ruffled feathers. But her most recent comment attacking victims of the holocaust and the entire Jewish community are disgusting. Apologies are not enough when it comes to things like this, This can and will not be forgotten. We as Americans demand that she be fired from the daytime tv show ‘The View‘ for her repulsive verbiage and actions.”
