For many couples, it is crucial that the future father is there in the delivery room, standing beside his partner. And though it’s a woman who physically goes through the whole process, their men often deliver such genuine facial expressions that the photos of them witnessing the birth of their child will definitely make an impression in any family album.

This time, hilarious expressions were caught on the face of an Arkansas dad thanks to a whimsical technician who started to take pictures right before mom started pushing, after 6 long hours of labor.

What’s more surprising is that it was already the third kid for 32-year-old truck driver Brett Sills, and he’s been present at the birth of each of his children. The only difference this time was that it was the first time he looked down while his girlfriend of 6 years, Amanda Roelofs, was pushing.

“He’s always held a leg, but would just turn away,” said Roelofs. “This time, the doctor had him all involved, and it was great.” And indeed it was! In the photos, the poor man appears completely horrified when he sees his daughter’s head emerging.

When the baby was finally out, the grimacing father of 3 just stood there frozen, as if he couldn’t believe his eyes. “Dawg face is priceless,” one person wrote in the comments. “He looks terrified and grossed out at the same time,” added another.

When his girlfriend looked at the pictures for the first time she couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “I was skimming through the photos and I started cracking up,” she said. “I sent them to my sister-in-law, and she was like, ’You need to post these — so they can go viral.’”

Mission accomplished!

But what was going on in his head at that moment? What was he actually thinking? “I was just looking at her head! It went from being baseball size to a freaking cantaloupe,” he said. And he also added that though it was his third time, it still was something he cannot get used to.

On the other hand, his girlfriend wants people to know that Sills is the best partner and dad. He’s just a little “squeamish” when it comes to childbirth. “Some of the comments on the photo are like, ’My man better not make that face,’” she said. “I thought it was hilarious. I wasn’t upset at all.”

The birth of a child is one of the most thrilling moments in anyone’s life. And even though moms do all the work, fathers often experience a wide range of genuine emotions that any photographer would be happy to catch.
