Admit it, the popularity of ebooks and audiobooks can’t beat our love for print.

And our love for books also extends to our bookshelves.

We can’t help but be mesmerized by this project made by a crafty couple for the library room intended for their kids.

Jess and Sinclair have been married for more than a decade now and they live in Australia.

They have two beautiful sons, who are their main inspiration for said project.

Sinclair is the director of SCP Constructions.

According to the Facebook page of S. C. P. Constructions, it is a construction company specifically tailored to the needs of building and renovating residential homes.

Sinclair is the owner of the company. He obviously loves to build things — beautiful things to be exact.

Environment as inspiration to be creative
According to a study and investigation made by International Association of Design Research, they found out that the creativity of children can occur in different environments.

And in this study, kids that they interviewed said that they like to be in bright spaces.

Their creativity seems to perform better when the colors and furniture are designed to suit their needs.

A kid-friendly environment, we may say.

A 16-hour endeavor
The couple spent 16 hours crafting this bookshelf.

One of the best parts of the process is that the couple let their kids join them in building.

The step-by-step process will really inspire you to do this at home, too.

After measuring and deciding on the design, they placed an order for specially produced panels, which they paid roughly $900 for.

They ordered them to a local store and, one by one, Sinclair screwed the boxes into the wall.

You can almost see the end result coming together as he worked.

A well-thought-out design

The couple decided to also create a fake wall to hold the 36 boxes.

This alone is a brilliant idea.

After the boxes were fastened to the wall with screws, the screws were covered and painted to give the wall a smooth appearance.

Here is the final look:

They were up for the challenge.
One of the reasons the couple began the project is because this is part of a qualifying campaign for a reality TV show called The Block in Australia.

The Block is a show about couples who compete in home renovation to see who can sell a house for the highest price.

But the other reason is that this is a perfect way to celebrate their 11th Anniversary.

And based on Jessica’s post, “It was a huge process but it was so worth it”
