An ‘airline nepo baby’ has shared some of the perks of having a parent working in the industry,
Your parents‘ jobs can have an enormous impact on your life in many different ways.
For example, one study found that if your parents are doctors you are 24 times more likely to become a doctor than someone with non-doctor parents.
But one person has certainly gotten plenty of perks from his dad’s job working at United Airlines.
Joshua Crawford, 23, is from New Jersey and gets free airline tickets with United due to his dad working there.
As a result, Alex has racked up an enormous 260,212 miles of air travel in five years.
That’s giving Taylor Swift a run for her money!
Joshua’s father has worked at the airline for some 24 years, and this is one of the benefits of his dad’s career.
This has included 123 flights to some 30 different cities across the globe.
The flights themselves are not the only perk of his dad’s job either, as he shared in a video posted to TikTok.
When he’s travelling internationally, Joshua has less to worry about when it comes to getting checked in at the airport.
That’s because he can get a discounted rate on Global Entry, so he can get past security checks more easily.
Of course, there is also the possibility of free upgrades, including all the way to first class. That’s certainly not to be sniffed at.
There’s also the added benefit of lounge access at airports. This means that he doesn’t have to spend any money on buying lots of food while waiting for his flight.
He’s certainly taken advantage of it, visiting four continents in 2023 alone. Aside from his home in North America, these included Europe, Oceania, and Asia.
Joshua documents his many travels in his TikTok channel, with one of his videos even received a whopping 4.1 million views.
And it seems he doesn’t have to worry about the perks stopping anytime soon.
While rules vary from airline to airline, in the case of United, family privileges generally stop when the child turns 26.
However, as Joshua has been named as his dad’s main companion, this no longer applies.
While his internal flights within the US are completely free, he does have to pay the tax on international flights.
This included paying $70 to fly from Japan to the US, last minute.
Not bad at all!
As for United, they’re totally on board with Joshua’s travels, telling him in a comment: “We love this for you!”
